Location<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine is located in the southeastern part of Europe. It shares land borders with Belarus in the north, Poland in the west, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova in the south, and Russia in the east. The south of Ukraine is washed by the Black and Azov seas. It has maritime borders with Romania and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geographically, there are 5 regions of Ukraine: Western Ukraine, Eastern Ukraine, Northern Ukraine, Southern Ukraine, Central Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historical lands of Ukraine: Dnieper, Galicia, Pokuttya, Podillya, Tavria, Slobozhanshchyna, Donbass, Zakarpattia, Prykarpattia, Volyn, Polissya, Zaporizhia, Bukovyna and others. The total area of \u200b\u200bUkraine is 603,548 km2. According to this indicator, it is the largest country that lies entirely in Europe<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relief<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The relief of Ukraine is dominated by plains – 95% of the total area. Mountain ranges in Ukraine are represented by part of the Carpathian Mountains – the Ukrainian Carpathians, where the highest peak of Ukraine – Mount Hoverla (2061 m above sea level), and the Crimean Mountains, whose highest peak is Mount Roman-Kosh (1545 m)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Climate<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Mostly moderately continental. Average winter temperature from -8 \u00b0 to -12 \u00b0 C (from + 17.6 \u00b0 F to + 3 \u00b0 F). In the southern regions, winter temperatures fluctuate around 0 \u00b0 C (+ 32 \u00b0 F). The average summer temperature is + 18 \u00b0 to + 25 \u00b0 C (+ 64.4 \u00b0 F to + 77 \u00b0 F), although the maximum temperature may be above + 35 \u00b0 C (+ 95 \u00b0 F).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reservoirs<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are 63,119 rivers and streams with a total length of over 206,000 km on the territory of Ukraine. The main rivers are the Dnieper, the Seversky Donets, the Southern Bug, the Dniester, and the Danube. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are about 20,000 lakes in the country. The largest lake in Ukrainian Polissya, Svityaz, has an area of \u200b\u200b27.5 km\u00b2. Salt lakes of estuaries origin have a larger area – the Danube (Yalpug – 149 km,), the Black Sea (artificially desalinated Kunduk (Sasyk) – 204.8 km\u00b2), the Crimean (salt lake Sasyk-Sivash – 71 km\u00b2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natural resources<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine is one of the world’s leading mineral resources. The country, which occupies only 0.4% of the earth’s landmass and is home to 0.8% of the world’s population, has in its bowels 5% of the world’s mineral potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of proven reserves of some minerals, Ukraine is ahead of Russia, the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Canada and other countries.
