Radomyshl is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine. Scientists claim that the territory of modern Radomyshl was inhabited 30-35 thousand years ago. The first name of the settlement is Mychesk and it comes from the river Myka, which flows here. Geographically, the city is located on the territory of Kievan Polissya. The largest river in the Zhytomyr region, the Teteriv, a right tributary of the Dnieper, flows through Radomyshl.
The city has unique natural and historical opportunities and is one of the tourist pearls of Zhytomyr region. The Radomysl Castle-Museum historical and cultural complex and the only home icon museum in Europe, Radomyshl beer, and Oleksandr Zinchenko, a Manchester City footballer born in Radomyshl, are known for their three brands in the town of Radomyshl in the Zhytomyr Region.
Radomyshl community is multifaceted and diverse, has hundreds of interesting, unique and creative people, tourist places and natural objects, which have no analogues in Ukraine and the world, namely: more than 500-year-old oaks “Krynychenka tract”, under which rested the legendary Hetman of Ukraine Bohdan Khmelnytsky and a unique deposit of white marble, which with its composition and decorative properties is not inferior to the best examples of similar products in the world.
Radomyshl also has its own museum of local lore, which has more than 2,500 exhibits. The water tower is one of the business cards of the city. This is a striking example of industrial architecture, built in 1911 by architect K. Ensch.
The Museum of Flora and Fauna is another unique attraction, in the halls of which there are panoramas of forest life and photos from the life of nature (among the birds there is even a ringed 86-year-old crow) and arboretum – founded in 1968 under the leadership of Professor of the USSR Rubtsov LI and specialists of Kyiv Botanical park.
And St. Nicholas Cathedral was built simultaneously with St. Vladimir’s Cathedral in Kiev and the painting of many walls, ceilings and ceilings in these churches is identical. Therefore, there is an assumption about the probability of authorship of the painting of St. Nicholas Cathedral by V. Vasnetsov, M. Nesterov and M. Vrubel.
As you can see, the city has something to surprise you. Come to Radomyshl and see for yourself!
