Lutsk Gate is a business card of the city of Dubno, because in the late Middle Ages it played an important defensive role, served as a customs and transport regulatory point. The brick gate was built in the Renaissance style of stone and brick in 1623 by architect Jakub Medleni. Brama is a rare species of small barbican, except for Volyn, it is not found anywhere else in Ukraine. In plan, the tower is a combination of a small oval with a long rectangle facing the city.
The Lutsk Gate, located on the ancient road from Dubno to Lutsk, played the role of an entrance gate and a defensive tower in the system of city fortifications. The building was connected to the earthen rampart, protecting the city from the west. A bridge over a moat with water led to the gate.
In the last decade of the eighteenth century in Dubno there was a Masonic lodge “Perfect Secret” under the patronage of the owner of Dubno Mykhailo Lubomyrsky. The meeting of this lodge took place in the Lutsk gate on the third floor.
Today it is an architectural monument of national importance and needs urgent repair and restoration work. At present at the expense of the tenant of the building – the Rivne eparchy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine repair work on finishing of facades is carried out
