Church of St. John the Theologian

The first Christian temple and the first stone building of Lutsk. The oldest one, partially preserved building on the territory Upper Castle territory. The temple was built in 1775 with the assistance from the first Prince of separate principality in Volyn Yaroslav Izyaslavych. In 1289 the temple became a cathedral. In 1756 the temple was in a destructive state. A new church was planned to be built in its place, but unfortunately, this plan was not implemented. Right now the church is an archeological excavation, however, every Sunday parishioners of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine have an opportunity to witness the Worship near the remnants of this ancient temple
