About place

One of the highest temples in Ukraine. Its length is 51 m, width 42 m, height – 55 m. The large dome, which symbolizes Jesus Christ, and 12 smaller ones, which symbolize the apostles, as well as 8 small domes create a wonderful composition, which is the decoration of Rivne and can be seen from all sides of the city.

The lower and upper temples of the cathedral can accommodate more than 3,000 parishioners each. The church has lifts for the disabled and the elderly, there is a room for children’s Sunday school, medical center, library, choir rehearsals, museum and more.

The first cornerstone of the Cathedral was laid by the Patriarch of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, St. Mstislav, in 1990. The construction and consecration of the Cathedral by His Holiness Patriarch Filaret of Kyiv and All Rus’-Ukraine was completed in 2001.

The cathedral was built in the Ukrainian style. This is emphasized, in particular, by the Golden Trident with a cross (Vladimir Trident) on its pediment, stained glass crosses of window fillings over the doors on the west, north and south sides in the form of ornaments borrowed from Volyn towels, golden domes, white and blue walls.

Well-known Ukrainian church and public figures are buried in the courtyard of the cathedral: Metropolitan Daniel of Rivne and Ostroh and the head of the cathedral, member of the Supreme Church Council of the UOC-KP, politician Vasyl Chervoniy
